Joe Levitch, Levco Builders Owner, Biography
My name is Joe Levitch I am a Certified Remodeler. I would like to introduce myself. I am 51 years old. My wife Rachel is a Physician Assistant and is currently employed in the Boise area. We have two children, Athena 17 and Ethan 13, both in the Boise school system. I grew up in my father’s shadow remodeling in Berkeley, California. After graduating from high school, I followed my interest in emergency medicine and became an EMT and worked in Oakland California for 2 years, then attended Stanford University Medical Center’s Paramedic program. I worked in San Mateo County as a Paramedic up until September of 1980 when I came to Boise to rescue a bankrupt business, Flying Pie Pizza, which has made national news on many occasions. Flying Pie is renowned for its quality, creativity and care for the community on both sides of the counter. I have since sold my portion of that business to my best friend since nursery school, Howard Olivier.I continued to pursue my love of emergency medicine with Ada County Paramedics for 10 years. I am a founding member of Saint Alphonsus Life Flight and continue to work in the Air Ambulance business as a Flight Paramedic. I also established a property management company, Levco Properties LLC. I manage my own rehabilitated properties as well as manage properties for others.
Five years ago, I established Levco Builders LLC after having bought and completely remodeled several homes on my own and rediscovered the joy of remodeling. I am an active member of NARI and just earned my Certified Remodeler certification. I am also an associate member of Remodelers Advantage, an industry specific organization that mentors business leaders. I utilize one full time Project Manager. I have been honing my remodeling skills while practicing remodeling, primarily in the north end. I am a licensed contractor in Idaho and have just registered our company with the EPA as a renovation firm. We are Certified Renovators and are allowed to work on pre 1978 homes.
The danger associated with Lead Based Paint has inspired me to further my education. I recently went to UNLV and became certified as an EPA Lead Paint Inspector. The next phase of our lead safe work is to purchase a portable XRF machine; this amazing machine will identify lead in all things immediately. My next certification will be as a Lead Risk Assessor. My goal is to offer our specialty lead inspection services to the general public, the professional contractors of our region, and HUD related projects for municipalities. I am also passionate about keeping kids lead free and anticipate assisting the state and local agencies when a child with elevated blood lead level is identified to help locate the cause and eliminate it.
